I...well, we...needed a distracting night.
It's hard to see in my pictures but we had sun and rain and...a rainbow. A beautiful arc that seemed to end on the field. (It's too bad the boys didn't find their pot of gold...losing 6- 0 to the New Jersey Jackals...but there's always next time!)
The rest are under a cut...( Read more... )
It's actually very nice to have an Ottawa baseball team again...and the owners seem to be doing everything right (shuttle service from Hurdman Station, even! Ottawa dwellers will appreciate the coolness of this). Fingers crossed that it works out!
Now, if they'd just hire me part-time to do some editing...I said I'd do it for seats and popcorn, they're crazy to ignore me!

Anyways, at about 8:15, Von, Roo, and I went out for a walk to see how dark the neighbourhood was and whether there were more stars visible than usual. It was hard to tell, though the streets were quiet.
This picture didn't really turn out but I kinda like it all the same.
Aside from that little walk around the neighbourhood, I didn't do a thing today but sit on the couch and watch tv, movies, and sports...now that's a lazy day, folks. My excuse is that I'm still on the mend...my energy is kinda low and I'm still sore here and there (including, of all things, my jaw...sometimes ya just wanna laugh). But things are better and, a week and a half in, I'm cautiously optimistic that the whole thing was worthwhile.
*fingers crossed*
Now, if someone could just get a memo to Mother Nature about spring....?

p.s.
This is cool...more than 100,000 people watched the Dodgers and Red Sox play at the Coliseum tonight. I wish it'd aired on tv.

And I'm seeing a lot of pictures of spring cropping up on my friends list...all I have to say is, check out my home street:
Oh well, at least I can look at the bare trees and know that soon, very soon, they'll have buds on them...right, Mother Nature? Right?
And, as a sure sign of spring, the Red Sox play their first regular season game (in Japan) on Tuesday morning. Yay!
It's the little things, after all.

Another photo-heavy post because I don't have loads to say...but Von and I had a nice evening. We walked over to the ballpark to see the Ottawa Lynx beat the Scranton Wilkes-Barres Red Barons (helluva mouthful, that name)...a nice summer evening game. We haven't gone on foot before-- it was a really pretty walk, mostly on bike paths and along the Rideau River.
It took us about an hour to get there...and since I'm a menace with the camera, I took pictures.
( Whose idea was it for me to own a digital camera, anyways...? )
Next...baseball pics.

Von and I had a little baseball date tonight-- we went to see the Toledo Mud Hens take on the Ottawa Lynx at the aptly named Lynx Stadium here in Ottawa. The Lynx won 5-2, which was nice-- they even had a great home run in the bottom of the 7th inning to break a scoreless tie. I figure it's because they knew I was watching; after all, Mother Nature cleared up a rainy day so we could go, is it really that hard to believe that the Lynx were playing for me, too?
But despite a perfect night for baseball, the stadium was empty. The Lynx are in trouble; they're not going to be in Ottawa much longer and it's a shame. It's a (relatively) cheap night out at $11 per adult ticket but folks just aren't going. I guess losing the Expos (Washington Nationals, *sigh*) hurt us since the Lynx were their farm team; but it'll be a damn shame if we lose the Lynx, too.
I should mention that I'm not a huge fan of sports on tv; however, I do like them in person. Football and baseball are both a lot more fun if you can be in the actual stadium (we had seasons tickets to the Ottawa Renegades, may they Rest in Peace, for two years, for instance)-- and everytime I see the Lynx play, I leave the stadium wondering why we don't go more often. My guess is a lot of people mean to go and just don't get around to it; I mean, tonight's game started at 6:05 p.m. and that's awkward for anyone who works until, let's say, 6:00 p.m. (*cough*ME!*cough*).
Anyways, you should go. They're playing home games for the next four days (Toledo through Sunday and then the Columbus Clippers on Monday) and it'd be nice to see more folks in the stands. Go, enjoy the game, buy some caramel corn or a hotdog for dinner; you won't regret it.
