Good morning,
Welcome to another Monday morning! I was hoping to come into the office this morning to find that the office pool had won the lottery on Saturday night ($35 million!) but no such luck. We're trying again for the $40 million draw on Wednesday and I feel really good about it.
(That's a joke; it's what I always, ALWAYS say when I have a lottery ticket in hand.)(Though I do feel good about our chances this time.)(No, really, that's a joke...I always say it.)(But this time! THIS TIME WE'LL WIN!)(Still a joke.)(By Thursday, Von and I will be millionaires!)(You guessed it, a joke.)
Anyways, random stuff and some geekery (it's Monday, I'm allowed to make up words on Mondays).
1) The subject line of this post is from my favourite spam e-mail so far today. I don't know what it means but I like it.
2) How cool is this? I grabbed this from
ewillett...there is a chance of water on Mars.
3) As you all know by now, the space shuttle Atlantis crew made it safely into orbit. They'll be out walking around in space this afternoon. Have I mentioned lately how jealous I am of astronauts!? And NASA is still not returning my phonecalls about that job, damn them.
4) I had something for #4 but it's vanished on me. Expect an edit to this post later on when my brain comes back from its coffeebreak.
Hope this finds all of you well...my friends page is quite interesting these days, lots of people buying houses, sending stuff out to publishers, getting married, having babies, adopting kittens. When I'm busy and don't really have much to say, it's at least nice to see the rest of you aren't at a loss for words! *grinning*

Hey, cool...Space Shuttle Atlantis will be delayed in landing because there seems to be an unidentified object orbiting with it.
"Flight Controllers at the Mission Control Center in Houston informed the STS-115 crew to hold off on stowing the Ku-Band antenna to allow for possible inspections on Space Shuttle Atlantis.
An object was observed by Mission Control near the orbiter following standard tests of Atlantis’ reaction control system about 2:45 a.m. EDT today. Flight controllers continue to analyze the situation."
(from http://www.nasa.gov)
I'm sure it's going to be a little piece of debris (let's hope it's nothing off the shuttle) but, still, kinda like something out of a sci-fi film, isn't it?

Arrr! Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day, mateys!

Atlantis, up, up and away!
On the good news side of things, the Space Shuttle Atlantis has finally launched and is safely in orbit, with Mission Specialist Steve MacLean from the Canadian Space Agency aboard, too.

NASA still isn't returning my phone calls about the Mission Commander job but I have till 2010 to get myself hired and trained; that's plenty of time, eh?
