It’s been a very good couple of days.
As Von put it...it’s almost like 2008 is coming in early and kicking 2007’s butt. God, I hope that’s the case. I’m still not feeling great, yeah, and that’s not going to be resolved until January...but you know what?
Things are pretty good right now.
Why? Here’s why.
1) Random road to god knows... good news. Without going into details right now...there’ve just been a couple of nice e-mails about Von’s work. We’ve been kicked in the teeth so many times and Von has had so much frustrating news...it’s just nice to get some love. And he’s certainly had some love. Let’s just say...there’s hope. And not the bad kind of hope, either...the good kind. (Von will understand the distinction.)
2) Montreal. I love Montreal. I really, really love Montreal. I have so many wonderful memories associated with Montreal, just going there is good for the soul. It recharges me. I wish I could figure out a way to live there...though I guess there’s something to be said for having a place like that an hour and a half away when I need it. Oh, and if you need comics or books? For God’s sake, go to Astro Books...those are some good people, there.
3) Thai food. On Thursday night, Von and I celebrated our anniversary at a little Thai place on rue Ste. Catherines ouest. I’m a huge fan of green curry. And this place? Best green curry EVER! I had soup and then I had green curry and a glass of wine...and I cleaned my bowl and plate and drained my glass...and then I lay in bed later that evening and complained about how full I still was. I think our 11th anniversary will be best remembered for the Thai food. (Rub my belly!)
4) Sortilege. I brought some back from Montreal and, wow, do I like it. I don’t normally like whiskey or scotch but this stuff? Excellent. Alcoholic maple syrup. (And, no, it doesn’t seem to make me sick. I guess it’s in the same club as Bailey’s. Hurrah!) I haven’t had too much today...nope. I deny it enthusiastically. *sips*
5) Friends. I’ve had several nice e-mails over the last few days. I have plans with friends and I’m plotting about Christmas parties...tomorrow I’m back at work and I have e-mail and chatting to look forward to there. It’s just...nice. It’s hard to explain. There are people in my life I can’t imagine not knowing...I know I’ve had my bad days but life wouldn't be the same (or as good) without them. Really.
6) Random silly Star Trek 'movies.' Guess where I’m going tomorrow night?
7) And, finally...2008. It’s right around the corner. My birthday is in a month, then Christmas, and then 2008. And I’m going to travel and the Stones are gonna tour and Von is going to get more good news and my health is going to improve and...I can’t wait.
The glass is half full again...it was missing in action there for awhile.
