Ten things that make me very happy:

1) I just got back from a most wonderful trip to Boston and Halifax...where I saw the Stones twice, hung out with cool people, visited all sorts of great places, took three airplane rides, laughed too much, and only got lost once (who moved Fenway Park?). And rather than dwell on the fact that it's over...I'm trying to look forward to the next time I get to do it.

2) One week tomorrow, Von and I fly to Washington for SPX...and we're going to see all sorts of fun people, we're staying in the hotel where the convention is, and we're going to have room service and eat in bed. And we're (hopefully) going to get to Dulles Airport to see the Space Shuttle Enterprise when the convention is over.

3) Pickle is having a blast in Halifax and moving down there was clearly one of the best decisions she's ever made...and I'm proud of her and happy for her. Of course, I miss her...but it's a wonderful place for her to be.

4) I'm not a huge fan of my job but they pay me well, they let me keep a standee of Gandalf in my office (wearing a National Air and Space Museum hat, of course) and I have spare time between projects to do what I'm doing right now (updating this LJ and drinking a very large cup of Chai tea, mmm). It could be a lot worse. (And having an X in the house helps, too!)

5) It's raining out but tonight [info]pirate_kitchen is coming over to watch the season premiere of LOST...and there will be munchies and possibly wine. And the lights will be turned down. And we'll speculate and try to guess the puzzles during the commercials. And maybe there'll even be chocolate.

6) I haven't done any writing lately, but I have a half-started entry from the 3-Day Novel contest that I'm going to fatten up a little and send off to some journals. It makes me happy to have a starting point...once I get rolling, I do okay. It's just the blank pages that do me in.

7) Various friends are coming through town in the fall (or threatening to come through town), which is nice to look forward to.

8) A good friend is having a baby at the end of October...and this is what she's wanted for ages. And that's a reason to smile if I've ever heard one!

9) I still have my mother's Keith Richards bobblehead despite her asking for it back at least once a day. This makes me smile...and laugh. (Sorry, Mom.)

10) And, last but not least, Von finished his graphic novel (well, the drawing and inking of it), which is wonderful...it looks really good and I'm very, very proud of him!

There, [info]misfitwes, better?

Moggy
